Rigid Stainless Liner
Where the flue runs straight, rigid stainless is the better liner. It is heavier gauge than flex, its smooth interior wall drafts better and collects less creosote, and it holds up longer under repeated heat cycles — flexible liner earns its place around offsets, not in a straight shot. We size it to the appliance rather than to the old clay tile, insulate the annulus where clearance or draft calls for it, and finish with a top plate and cap that seal the flue at the crown.
